Eating & Drinking In Dorset
Introduction
Here are some of the pubs and restaurants that I've visited in Dorset that I've liked. Alongside each entry I've made a note of when I last visited the pub or restaurant so you know how up-to-date the descriptions are. Some of the pubs or restaurants below have links to pages with larger photos.
As with all the sections on my site, the views expressed here are totally my own.

Bournemouth
Goat & Tricycle
27 West Hill Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH2 5PF - 01202 314220
Some pubs in the centre of Bournemouth can have quite an edgy atmosphere, but this is a friendly back-street pub where people from all walks of life seem to mix and get on.
The pub is quite large with one seating area that loops around behind the central bar area. There is a small non-smoking area buried in the draughty corner at one end (cheers) and an ouside courtyard area for those warmer evenings.
Although this is a Wadworth's pub it boasts a large changing selection of guest ales - all well kept. Food is apparently available too.

Kings Stag (Near Sturminster Newton)
The Green Man
Kings Stag, Sturminster Newton, Dorset, DT10 2AY - 01258 817338
Friendly pub in the heart of the (tiny) village of Kings Stag. Two bars inside and a non-smoking dining room. Outside seating in front of the pub and a new garden at the back. The pub had changed hands just before my last visit but it seemed unchanged.
A rotating selection of real ales are available - all seem well kept. The food is good too with a selection of big and small meals. The portions are large and it's reasonably priced.
There is a skittle alley too.

West Lulworth & Durdle Door
Castle Inn
Main Rd, West Lulworth, Dorset, BH20 5RN - 01929 400311
Large friendly pub/hotel in the small village of West Lulworth. Excellent and reasonably priced food is available at lunch times and in the evenings. 2 or 3 well kept real ales are available.
There is a large terraced garden with tables behind the pub for those warm days. The car park is across the road just off School Lane. Accommodation is available.

Man O War Bar
Durdle Door Holiday Park, Near West Lulworth, Dorset
The holiday park is situated on the cliffs above Durdle Door and Man O War bays about half a mile west of Lulworth Cove and features static caravans as well as camping areas. Its reason for being included here is that there is a bar/restaurant which is open from March until October. If you're staying here or in the area you can pop in to get some good food or have a drink - including some local real ales. Occasionally they have bands and quizzes too.
