Introduction

Music has been important in my life for as long as I can remember - my father was buying early Beatles singles when I was about five or six years old and we seemed to be listening to the pirate radio stations all the time during the 60's.

My earliest ambition was to be a drummer just like my then hero Ringo Starr, and I would get into trouble breaking my mother's knitting needles whilst bashing out the rhythm on the cushions. But in the end after a false start with the piano, it was the guitar that captivated me, and I never looked back - although the sight of a vacant drum stool can still produce odd mysterious yearnings from within.
